CCC to host East Bay Lunafest On March 13, Contra Costa College will host the East Bay Lunafest, a film festival featuring 10 short films by, for and about women. The award-winning films, produced in the U.S. and abroad, range from animated shorts to fictional drama and cover a wide range of topics focusing on women’s issues. Actress Karen Grassle is the event’s mistress of ceremonies. Best known for her years on the NBC hit series “Little House on the Prairie,” Grassle has been an advocate for women’s rights throughout her career. She co-wrote and starred in the film “Battered,” which became a benchmark exposing domestic violence in the United States. This spring she will appear in the Aurora Theatre’s “John Gabriel Borkman.” The film festival will be held at the John & Jean Knox Center for the Performing Arts, located at the corner of El Portal Drive and Castro Street in San Pablo. General admission tickets cost $20; student tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased through www.brownpapertickets.com/event/94420. All proceeds from Lunafest will go to the Breast Cancer Fund and Contra Costa College’s College for Kids program.
