SWANSON HONORS LOCAL OAKLAND BUSINESSMAN FOR STELLAR WORK

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – During the California Small Business Day reception this week in Sacramento,

Assemblymember Sandré R. Swanson (D-Alameda) honored local businessman Tom W. Williams, Jr. with the

small business award for his significant leadership as Chief Executive Officer and founder of the accounting

firm Williams, Adler & Company. California Small Business Day was sponsored by the California Small

Business Association and well-attended by Members of both houses of the Legislature, including Senate

President pro tem Darrell Steinberg and Speaker of the Assembly John

Perez.

Swanson spoke fondly of the recipient Williams. “Under Williams’

leadership, the Williams, Adley & Company accounting firm has

flourished as a benchmark for management and business consulting,

facilities management and operations support services. Since founding

the Oakland company in 1982 as a two-person operation, Williams

expanded the geographical and influential reach of the business from

Oakland and San Francisco to Washington, D.C, with over 100

employees.”

“Not only does Williams provide excellent accounting services to local

businesses and individuals, as well as federal, state, and local government

agencies, but he also regularly gives back to the community. His Oakland

firm has volunteered countless hours of talent and financial support to

organizations such as the United Way, Alameda County Family Justice

Center, National Association of Black Accountants, Girl Scouts, American

Cancer Society, and the local Alameda County Community Food Bank.”

“His important role in Oakland as a trailblazing businessman with the

moral sensitivity to give back to the community made it a very easy decision to select Williams as my small

business leader of the year,” concluded Assemblymember Swanson.

California Small Business Day was established in 2000 as a result of a unanimous vote in the California State

Assembly decreeing and honoring the contributions of small businesses in the state.
